We’re pleased to announce that the Saint Michael’s Farmers Market has been named the Best Neighborhood Farmers Market in D Magazine’s Best of Big D 2017! The magazine blurb says:

The rule at this event held each Saturday in the church’s parking lot: the “edibles only” products must come from within 150 miles. Much comes from a lot closer. You’ll find 35-plus vendors at this hyper-local scene filled with produce.

There are many people to thank, but we want to particularly recognize our wonderful vendors and the Farmers Market Committee for all their hard work making our market worthy of the distinction. We’re grateful to all of our loyal customers (and pets!), who make Saturday mornings fun. And since we’re a community nonprofit, we wouldn’t be here without the generous donations of our Friends. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you over the rest of the 2017 market season.

Roughly 2,000 people attended D Magazine’s announcement party, held Wednesday, August 23 at the Bomb Factory. SMFM vendors helped provide food for the event:

  • Caprese salad on short bamboo skewers using Mozzarella Company’s mozzarella cheese, tomatoes & watermelon from La Esperanza Farm, basil from Elliott Grows, olive oil & balsamic vinegar from Texas Olive Ranch, and peppered salt from Behrnes’ Pepper Salt.
  • Cold Gazpacho soup from Stocks & Bondy.
  • A Gloria pastry from La Duni Baking Studio to take home
